19th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd of January 2023 at the Hotel Grand Pacific.

We’re very pleased to present the 2023 program for the 17th Victoria Whisky Festival. The Victoria Whisky Festival will run through Thursday the 19th, Friday the 20th, Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd of January 2023 at the 5-star Hotel Grand Pacific located on Victoria’s beautiful Inner Harbour.

For our 17th Festival we will continue to sell tickets on two days; Thursday 10th of November 2022 for out of town attendees. They may telephone the Hotel Grand Pacific to purchase their tickets in conjunction with a hotel room reservation.

All Festival tickets will be bundled into packages and strictly limited to two packages per person, and will be non-refundable. The telephone lines will open at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time; please telephone the Hotel Reservation line at 1-800-663-7550 on the 10th of November to reserve your room and purchase your tickets. Due to the anticipated high demand please allow time for the hotel operators to return your call; this may take several hours or more. Please review the ticket package document very carefully as very few packages are duplicates. The individual consumer tasting tickets can only be purchased with the purchase of a regular or VIP package. Tickets may be collected once you have checked into the hotel.

Tickets sales for in town attendees will commence on Sunday November 13th, 2022 at 9 a.m. at the Strath Ale, Wine & Spirit Merchants located at 919 Douglas Street, Victoria, BC, Telephone (250) 370-9463. No orders will be accepted by telephone.

All Festival tickets are subject to applicable taxes and a small ticket handling fee will be in place.

Numbered ticket purchase forms will be handed out so that your place in line will not be lost!

This class will cover the history of whisky in Japan and follow the story of Nikka’s founder, Masataka Taketsuru, the “Father of Japanese Whisky“ whose travel to Scotland and back shaped the history of whisky production in Japan. We will taste single malts from Nikka’s two distilleries, Yoichi and Miyagikyo, and learn how Taketsuru’s enduring influence has allowed Japanese whisky to carve out a unique niche for itself. In addition, we will taste two experimental batches of single malt whiskies which will give a glimpse of the evolution of styles and character that has made Nikka a world leader in whisky production. We will conclude with a tasting of this year’s limited editions Nikka Discovery Series.

The VIP Tasting is open to special guests of the 2023 Victoria Whisky Festival and VIP Ticket holders. It will be held in the Vancouver & Pender Island Ballrooms prior to the Consumer Tasting and will feature the full line of whiskies as with the Consumer Tasting. VIP Ticket holders will be able to explore the range of whiskies being presented for a full hour prior to the Consumer Tasting (Ticket price includes VIP Tasting & Consumer Tasting).

The Consumer Tasting
7:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.

The heart of the Festival is the Consumer Tasting being held in the Hotel Grand Pacific’s Pender Island and Vancouver Island Ballrooms featuring a myriad of distilleries and whiskies including Canadian whisky, Scottish single malts and blended whiskies, Irish whiskey, Japanese, Indian, French, Finnish, Swiss, Australian whiskies and a variety of whisky & whiskey styles from the United States of America.

Each attendee is provided with an engraved Glencairn whisky nosing & tasting glass as well as assorted product information from the presenters.

The Hotel Grand Pacific will be providing the best Hors d’Oeuvres from their award winning kitchen and Chefs using local ingredients including the very popular & elusive haggis tarts created especially for the Victoria Whisky Festival! Here you will be able to satisfy your whisky curiosity by sampling your choice of over 150 whiskies, the largest selection available for such an event in British Columbia.

Water of Life – A Whisky Film – Presented by Bruichladdich

Join us at the Vic Theater for an afternoon filled with the sights, sounds, aromas and flavours of Islay. The Water of Life is a feature documentary that focuses on the craftsmen, chemists, and renegades at the heart of the whisky revolution that turned the stagnant scotch whisky industry of the 1980s into the titan it is today.

Starting behind the locked gates of an abandoned distillery, Jim McEwan and Mark Reynier share their personal experiences of the risk-taking and wild experimentation they used to turn Bruichladdich into what it is today.

The film takes you on the journeys of other early visionaries like Gordon & MacPhail, Billy Walker, Dr. Rachel Barrie and David Stewart, whose mixture of talent, chemistry, hard work, grit, and a little sprinkle of magic paved the way for the next generation of innovators like Adam Hannett, Kelsey McKechnie, Liam Hughes, Iain Croucher, and Eddie Brook.

The Screening will be accompanied by a interactive tasting of malts from the Bruichladdich Distillery, including some new release. Guests will receive a tasting kit, including 4 malts, Bruichladdich dram glass & Ltd edition box. The screening will be followed by a Bruichladdich Q&A with Brand ambassador Reed Pettit.

The Distillers Dinner

This exceptional dinner is by invitation only; the culinary team at the Hotel Grand Pacific led by Executive Chef Peter Kim will pair exceptional local ingredients with some outstanding whiskies.
